Wanted to jot down some thoughts about our recent stay at Sea Mountain Inn (SMI) @ Palm Springs, since we were hoping the reviews for it here would've been more up-to-date. Also this was our first time visiting SMI so our review below is from that perspective. First off, we only stayed for a single day; we did not stay overnight, but rather bought the day/morning pass and upgraded it later that day to the evening pass. We got a glimpse at the rooms available there, but others who have actually stayed in the room can speak with more authority than us. If we were to book a room, though, we'd be very keen on getting one with a mini fridge. We also saw one room that was elevated above the rest, with a balcony overlooking the pool area, and that seemed like it would be a ton of fun. The resort is small. It really feels much more like an inn than a resort. The neighborhood seems like it's primarily zoned as residential, as it didn't seem like there were many (if any) other businesses nearby. There are a set of narrow parking spots along the front wall, but they're pretty tight; we had a rental minivan and had to slide in between two SUVs and we were glad our doors slide open instead of hinged. There looked to be some street parking across the way too, but I honestly have no idea where they put the cars on busy weekends. The grounds are mostly the pool, hot tub, sun loungers, and a grill area in the back. The rooms line the perimeter and open up to the common area in the middle. There are no additional hallways or rooms that didn't follow this pattern that we could see. The whole area is completely enclosed by a high wall and palm trees, so you really feel quite secluded from the surrounding buildings. Sadly, this means you don't have any scenic vistas of the valley or sunsets either. The common area is surprisingly shady throughout the day (in early October); most of the sun loungers were either completely shaded or had mottled sunlight. A few were in full sun. The sun is pretty intense down there, so we think overall this is a good thing, but if you're really keen on busting those tan lines on a busy day you might need to do some negotiating for a sunny spot. There is a bank of small lockers available, but you'd have to bring your own lock. We saw lots of elevated fans with misters attached for the super-hot weather, but we didn't see any heat lamps for the cooler nights. We heard from other guests that they might rent heat lamps for events during the cooler times of the year. The pool was intimate & comfortable. No part of the pool was in shade, so the water temp was quite cozy throughout the day. It's probably heated at night, but we didn't ask. There is no direct line-of-sight between the hot tub area and the pool area; they're separate social spaces. With tunes playing, conversations happening, and/or ecstatic moaning you won't have an idea what's happening in one area from the other without getting up and walking over. There is also a hybrid play room / small dance floor in between the two areas. The staff was exceptionally nice and accommodating (special shout-out to Frankie!) At all hours of our stay, they were always available to answer our questions or assist in any way they could. They also were mostly naked or partially clothed, which helped them feel to us like they genuinely wanted to be there. The website for SMI is a train wreck in my opinion (Mr. speaking here: I am a web programmer by trade), so if you really want questions answered just call the resort and talk to the staff directly, especially to understand the pricing. We have a few nitpicks from the time we spent there. Keep in mind that we were there on a random Thursday in October, so things might be pretty different than how they are on a more populated weekend or during an event. - The Mrs. & I elected to get a couples massage there. I'm fairly certain the massage therapists are outside contractors and not regular employees of SMI. The massage itself was fine—in that it was a serviceable 60 minutes of working out kinks in our muscles, etc etc etc. We were excited by the possibility of having our massages be more aligned with the nature of the resort itself, and it felt kind of jarring to be walking in to the massage room naked, chatting with the therapists naked, then having them put sheets over us like you'd have at literally any other spa. The sheets stayed on throughout the whole massage. We weren't expecting happy-endings or anything like that, but it did feel incongruous to be nude before & after yet not during.
 We could've forgiven the non-nude aspect of it, but the real killer for us was the ambience (or the complete lack of). One of the massage therapists was playing relaxing spa-type music from her phone (there is no dedicated speaker in that room), but had not silenced her text messages or calls, so we kept hearing her phone's notifications. Even worse, the app she had elected to use to play the music was ad-supported and she had not paid for any plan to remove the ads. So yeah--we went from calming spa music to a jarringly-loud JC Penny ad. The Mrs. even heard the therapist whisper into her phone's Alexa/Siri/whatever prompt to "play calming spa music," as if she hadn't thought to do that beforehand. So yeah, we will not be doing massages again there, nor do we recommend them. Maybe at one point they were famous as the website states, but that is no longer the case based on our experience, and we'd much rather spend the money elsewhere. - We suspect there are different amenities available during the weekend or busier times than others, as when we called to ask some questions before arriving we were told that there would be a bartender and that mixers would be available. SMI's alcohol policy is BYOB, so we figured we could give our liquor to the bartender and they could mix our drinks with on-site mixers. What we found instead was a communal fridge in the front office with basically one carafe of orange juice and two two-liter bottles of club soda (and a crap-ton of Coke & Diet Coke)—no bartender. We had brought a bottle of bubbly and vodka and didn't bring any mixers ourselves, so we quickly went through the available OJ (mimosas) and had vodka sodas the rest of the day. We left around dinnertime to check-in to our vanilla hotel (after extending our SMI passes so we could come back) and made sure to bring a replacement bottle of OJ and other mixers for the evening. Maybe the bartender & mixers are available on the weekends or during events—we don't know, but we felt like that aspect of our stay could've been communicated a bit better than it was. - Occasionally the music played over the pool and the hot tub went in weird directions. Earlier in the day a song from Disney's The Lion King came on, though the staff quickly skipped past that. Nothing was really "happening" so it was cool. The bigger misstep was in the evening when we were chatting and getting hands-y with another couple in the hot tub and Eric Clapton's "Tears in Heaven" came on, at which point Mr.'s hand flew off the other Mrs.'s clit, stated loudly "Nope!" and left to go to the office to get it changed. The staff quickly changed the song, but admitted the music doesn't play in the office, so they didn't know that was happening. SMI: get your playlists sorted!
 So, what about the people we saw/met there? As we mentioned earlier, we were there on a random Thursday in early October, so we weren't expecting a crowd. Nor did we really find one. We arrived a bit after 11 AM and there were about 6-7 other couples there, all around the pool. We all largely kept to ourselves for most of the afternoon. We both enjoyed being naked in the sun and came with no expectations about how the day would go. After our afternoon massage (see above), a few other couples arrived for late-afternoon check-ins and two couples had started talking to each other in the pool. We joined in, and soon the newcomers and more of the existing couples were all in the pool chatting. Even Frankie came out at one point to offer everyone another round of Margaritas and commented that this was one of the more active Thursdays she's seen for a bit. Most of the couples we talked to had travelled from other parts of the country. We're pretty sure everyone was from the United States. Some couples who have been coming for a long time say SMI is pretty popular with the locals on the weekends. One couple said they'd been coming here for over a decade and in their opinion the place hasn't really changed much at all in that time. Most were staying at SMI for at least one night; some were exploring other resorts in the area after SMI, like Tuscany or Desert Sun. We were definitely on the younger side of the couples that were there, but we weren't alone in that demographic. We talked in varying degrees with nearly every couple there at the time, and it seemed to us that most were in the lifestyle—as opposed to just nudists who didn't play—though the overall vibe was more "we like chilling by ourselves" more than "let's get frisky with strangers." Regardless, nearly everyone we chatted with seemed friendly and open. We were happy to go either way as far as play or no-play. Luckily we found one of the newly-arrived couples were very interested in playing with us, so it didn't take us long to move to the sun loungers back by the grill area for some nice open-air sexy time. (Quick pro-tip if you haven't been to any of the resorts in the area before: the climate is a desert, so you will dehydrate quickly!) Between that time (probably around 3 PM) and when we left for the night (maybe around 10 PM?), the four of us did most of the fucking that we could see. We could imagine the place being much more active on a weekend or with an event. Did we have fun? Yeah, we most certainly did! A big part of that was the couple we played with (thanks J&C!!), but we liked the resort and could easily have had fun just hanging out chatting with folks, or busting tan lines, or quietly enjoying drinks around others who enjoy being naked as much as we do. We know we probably went at the most dead time we could've gone, so it's easy for us to imagine our next visit being better. Will we go back? Probably, though we're curious to try out some of the other places in the area first. We've heard lots of things about EDR so we'll probably give that a go next, when we find ourselves back in the area. Anywho, hope this review is helpful to someone. 😘
