Hash House Harriers - "A Drinking Club with A Running Problem"

Dallas, TX

The Hash House Harriers. ("H3") is an international group of cross country runners based on a game of fox & hounds (actually Hare & Hounds). This is certainly a run for fun. Billed as "a drinking club with a running problem" it was started in 1936 in Singapore by a group of bored English soldiers in a low quality diner called "hash houses" by the British Army. There are almost 2000 chapters world-wide. Drinking is not required but after a 3 - 4 mile run the beer does flow rather generously. (Some trails are long, some are short, depends on who lays it out.) The "hare" lays a trail with flour and it's up to the rest of the pack (In Dallas Tx, usually 30 to 40 people of all ages and walks of life, Our Dallas chapter runs about 60% male/ 40% female) to track him down. False trails are definitely allowed and usually keep the fast runners from getting too far aheadof the walkers, and add to the merriment at the end.

This is not a Swing/Lifestyle specific group, but also includes a lot of "vanillas".   But the pesonalities mesh well, and is more of a social event. nd ocasional nudity does occur.
We have runners and walkers, and the only requirement is a good sense of humor and an inability to take offense at off-color language or behavior.
If this sounds at all interesting. Look up the world Home page "Global Trash" at http://www.gthhh.com/ for general and international information and to find chapters near you.
If you are in North Texas our localcal chapter at http://dfwh3.org/

The buy-in or "HashCash" is usually about $5 to 7 to pay for beer and snacks. Don't wear anything nice or new. and be prepared to run through some brambles. You never know. Some peope wear shorts or Camo BDU's; I prefer cheap very light weight scrup pants of polyester because the "stickers" from the tall grass won't stick. There are a couple of guys who prefer to run in kilts.

Runs are conducted At least once or twice a week, in Dallas.  but frequency depends on the group near you.

Even if this doesn’t sound like your kind of thing, feel free to forward this to anyone you think might find it fun.
